Are you struggling with routines for success in the kitchen? You’ve landed on just the right page!
Routines for success are not only for financial gain or building your business empire. Simple routines for success, in the kitchen, help you take control of your health and get back to living your best life.
In the kitchen, overcomplicated ideas about health habits stop many people in their tracks. As a result, frustration and overwhelm take over, and before you know it, healthy and hard are the two words used most frequently in a sentence.
It seems like yesterday, my four young children had me feeling like I’d never get out of the kitchen to enjoy the great outdoors. Until I decided to slow down, identify the kitchen game changers, and think differently. After that, I implemented simple routines for success and ran out the door for more adventure.
This post is all about How to Create Monthly Routines for Success in the Kitchen.
What’s Your Story about Healthy?
What’s the story in your head right now about getting healthy, remaining healthy, and being healthy? What words pop into your mind when you are asked, “How do you feel about getting healthy?”
The words I hear most frequently attached to the word healthy are hard, overwhelming, and time-consuming! Indeed, I have thought these thoughts too!
Whenever I found a new “healthy-version” recipe and I discovered all of the steps, my brain immediately went to “that’s too hard!” Similarly, when I dug into the world of what I was eating and began reading food labels, feelings of overwhelm flooded my body and it seemed easier to skip the labels. And time-consuming, who hasn’t had that thought? I mean, how in the heck am I going to find time to cut all those vegetables, fill the cabinets and fridge with healthy grab-and-go snacks, and get dinner on the table after a full day of work or professional motherhood!
Let’s stop overcomplicating our idea about what healthy is and embrace one, two, three, or ALL of these simple monthly routines for success.
Monthly Routines for Success
Pull out your calendar! As you know, twelve big beautiful months create your best year ever! Looking at the BIG picture or an entire month provides an opportunity to be intentional instead of flying by the seat of your pants. As fun as spontaneous living can be, a life created by circumstances may not set you up for the success you are seeking.
Monthly routines for success in the kitchen can naturally be aligned with exactly what you are seeking. What does that mean? Let’s dig in!
1. Set a Goal
Have you already cast a big vision for your health? If not, back up the bus, and check out 5 Things To Ask Yourself Before Starting your Health Journey AGAIN so you know where you are headed. Unfortunately, if you have no destination, you will just end up somewhere and it may not be the place you wanted!
Because I work with women who want to feel their best and love the bodies they live in, throughout this post the goal will be – to eat three or more vegetables a day and drink half your body weight in fluid ounces of water.
2. Restock for your Success Routine
Preparation is key to any success. Just like preparing for a family vacation, preparing for some of the basics for the month saves you time and energy. Furthermore, preparation prevents massive setbacks.
Pantry
Pantry items are the easiest items to restock. Either grab these items as you see them on sale and stock up. Or, use online subscriptions to create more simplicity for your household.
Here are a few ideas for the goal to feel your best:
- Almond flour
- Black beans, garbanzo beans, etc.
- Salsa & sauces
- Brown rice, quinoa
- Honey, coconut oil
- Oatmeal
- Nut butter
Supplements
Good, healthy nutrition is essential for bringing vitamins, minerals, amino acids, proteins, probiotics, fiber, and enzymes to your body so it will perform daily, no matter your health goal. In a world changing as fast as I type, these essential nutrients are not always available because our soil has changed, production methods are different, and foods may or may not be available. Therefore, my belief is supplementation fills in the gaps.
Here are a few ideas for the goal to feel your best and consume three or more vegetables a day:
- Calcium, magnesium, potassium – Alkalete
- Vitamin D3
- Probiotic – Pure
- Fish oil / Krill oil
- Protein Shake – find one with a full serving of vegetables – Yes
- Natural Energy and/or Hydration mixes – Passion, Fun, Truth
3. Get Your Crew Ready
Who’s your crew? A crew is necessary for your sanity! In our house, my crew is my four children. Each child was assigned a “zone” for the month at a very young age. The kitchen is a zone. Unfortunately, it’s the zone my children despise the most because it requires the most work! It is also an opportunity for them to learn responsibility and life skills. And, an opportunity for me to catch my breath!
Kitchen Crew Responsibilities:
- Emptying the dishwasher
- Vacuuming
- Taking out the garbage and recycling
- Wiping off the glass door to the sunroom
- Disinfecting handles
- Helping clear off the counters and table
- Washing off the table
Now, loading the dishwasher – that’s a mom thing! My curious mind wants to know who has great strategies for teaching teenagers how to load the dishwasher properly?
4. Reflect and Reset
Creating a monthly plan takes focus and energy, so it is just important to schedule a half hour to reflect at the end of the month.
With your goal in front of you – to eat three or more vegetables a day and drink half your body weight in fluid ounces of water – ask yourself a few questions:
- How did I feel overall this month? Did I have some high and low days? What might have impacted my energy?
- Did I take steps toward achieving my weekly and daily routines?
- What can I celebrate?
- Where did I fall short? Do I need to ask for help?
With answers in hand, move into your next month with your new plan and another month of routines for success.
To sum it up, routines and rituals make up the majority of your day. This post is the first of three in a series about routines for success in the kitchen. Creating a monthly routine for success sets up your weekly and daily routines. Stock your pantry, ask your supplement questions, hire your crew, and come back next week for more tips on creating routines for success in the kitchen.
